5 must-watch movies on Netflix this month

This list is in release date order. It’s impossible to compare the various genres coming out.

The Power of the Dog

We start with a movie that is already being considered a contender for the Oscars. The Power of the Dog comes from Jane Campion and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, and Jesse Plemmons.

It follows Phil Burbank, a domineering rancher who is cruel to those around him. He doesn’t think he’ll ever fall in love, so when his brother brings home a new wife and her son, he immediately responds through mockery. But what if everything for him changes? What happens then?

The Power of the Dog is available to stream from Wednesday, Dec. 1.

Single All the Way

Need a Christmas movie? Single All the Way is going to be the perfect option for you. Michael Urie stars as Peter, a man who has to face another holiday single. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it gets annoying when his family starts questioning why he’s still single.

To avoid another year of that, he decides to get his best friend Nick to pretend to be his boyfriend. They head off on a trip to his family for the holidays, and we all know just how it’s all going to play out. This is a great Christmas rom-com to watch.

Watch the movie on Thursday, Dec. 2.

The Unforgivable

What happens after you’ve served your time? Do you get to enter into the world as a changed person with people offering a helping hand? Of course you don’t! We know what humans are like, and the idea of forgiving people after they’ve committed a heinous crime is difficult.

That’s something Ruth Slater faces. She’s released after a violent crime that is considered unforgivable. She’s about to see what life is like afterward. Will anyone take a chance on her?

Check out the movie on Friday, Dec. 10.

Don’t Look Up

Leonard DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, and Timothée Chalamet star in the next of the movieson Netflix, and you can’t afford to miss it. Don’t Look Up follows two astronomer who find out that a comet is on the way to Earth. It’s going to destroy the planet unless someone does something fast.

However, they’re low-level astronomers. Nobody is interested in listening to them, and they need to head to a giant media tour to raise awareness. Can they manage it in time?

Lulli

When you need a comedy, you’ll want to wait until the end of the month. Lulli is a Brazilian comedy that promises plenty of laughter in a heartfelt way.

Lulli is a hardworking and ambitious medical student. She wants to be the world’s best surgeon, and that means hours honing her craft. Nothing is going to get in her way. Not even her recent ex-boyfriend. Or is he?
