Because of how 2020 played out, very nearly every new Netflix original series released throughout the year enjoyed its own moment. Of course, some had bigger word-of-mouth viral moments than others, but in 2020 more than ever, we were turning to Netflix to keep us entertained through the toughest times. Tiny Pretty Things had one of those smaller moments in December just ahead of the holidays, a release date that ultimately might have hindered its chances at greater success. As of this writing, the official word on the drama series’ future remains unannounced.

As of September 2021, Tiny Pretty Things has not been renewed for season 2. That likely means the series is canceled after one season.

Based on the novel of the same title by authors Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton, Tiny Pretty Things takes place in the high stakes world of an elite ballet academy where a group of young dancers will either make it or break it. Although the series garnered middling reception from critics, Tiny Pretty Things found an audience hungry for intriguing drama. Whether it’s renewed for season 2 or canceled, 2021 could become the end of the road for the soapy ballet drama unless it manages to kick up more conversation as the new year gets underway.
