How many seasons of Cowboy Bebop will there be?

Cowboy Bebop is now available to stream on Netflix. The live-action adaptation of the fan favorite anime can be binged in a weekend considering it’s only ten episodes which run between 45 minutes to an hour long.

Since the anime consists of one season, there’s a question of whether or not the live-action will also be capped at a season. However, it should be noted that showrunner André Nemec has every intention on furthering the crew of the Bebop’s story after the live-action’s season 1 run.

Nemec told The Hollywood Reporter the following at the show’s premiere event:

"If Ted Sarandos comes by, you tell him I got big plans for season two. We definitely know where we want to go, and I’m excited that we get to tell those stories. Fingers crossed that we get more Cowboy Bebop."

Is Cowboy Bebop season 2 happening?

So far there’s been no word on a renewal for the Netflix original series. Season 1 doesn’t exactly end tied in a tidy bow, so fans of the show will definitely be clamoring for more. There’s a hint at the end toward where Spike’s story could be headed next if Cowboy Bebop season 2 is greenlit.

If a second season is in the cards for the crew of the Bebop, it may be the final one. The anime only consists of 26 episodes. While the live-action could build off of the source material and then spawn its own original stories based on that universe, that’ll depend on how popular the series is.
