Mea Culpa

Release Year: 2024

Director: Tyler Perry

Cast: Kelly Rowland, Trevante Rhodes, Nick Sagar, Sean Sagar, RonReaco Lee, Shannon Thornton

I've said it before and I'm going to say it again. Tyler Perry needs a writers room stat! It's getting ridiculous at this point when it comes to these scripts he's coming up with. His screenplay for Mea Culpa is no exception. It was his first try at doing an erotic thriller, and all I can say is epic fail. It's meant to be a movie, but the way it's acted makes it feel like a soap opera. The dialogue is extremely cringe, and the acting is horrible. I love Kelly Rowland and Trevante Rhodes, but this wasn't the right roles for them. Overall, this was a mediocre thriller that should've never seen the light of day.

The story follows a criminal defense attorney named Mea who takes on a high-profile murder case of an artist named Zyair Malloy who is accused of killing his girlfriend. But when they begin to grow closer while working together, and a burning desire takes hold, Mea's big case takes a dangerous turn.

If you have absolutely nothing else to do, go ahead and turn this movie on. But even then, I recommend watching something else on Netflix. It's just not worth it.

Verdict: SKIP
