Best shows on Netflix Halloween
Let’s look at some of the amazing series that will fit the Halloween theme for this weekend.
The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor
These shows are terrific. The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor are from the creator Mike Flanagan.
Hill House tells its story across two timelines. It’s inspired by a novel by Shirley Jackson. Five adult siblings feel the effects of childhood experiences at Hill House. The story flits between their adult lives and their childhood day flashbacks.
Bly Manor is based on The Turn of the Screw, a novella by Henry James. A wealthy man hires an American girl as an au pair for his niece and nephew, who resides at Bly Manor, located in England. When she starts witnessing apparitions that haunt the property, things really get interesting.
Midnight Mass
No, Mike Flanagan isn’t sponsoring this article; his creations are just perfect for a Halloween weekend binge! Midnight Mass is one of his most recent Netflix series, and this series will keep you guessing. Just when you think you have it figured out, you don’t.
In this series, we see a new priest arrive on Crocket Island, a small isolated community, and at the same time, miracles start to occur. The townspeople, who have suffered from economic hardships, are looking for something to save them. With the blessings and renewal of religious fever, no one suspects something else may be going on around them.
Stranger Things
The Netflix original series Stranger Things is a great sci-fi horror drama. This one is fantastic for the story, the gore, the sci-fi elements, and the ’80s nostalgia.
Stranger Things currently has three seasons available to watch, with a fourth coming in 2022. This is a perfect time to watch or rewatch this series ahead of the fourth and final season.
The series is created by the Duffer Brothers, who have infused ’80s pop culture into this series in such a great way. They drew inspiration from great ’80s works by Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, Stephen King, ’80s video games, and more.
The story starts with a group of kids growing up in Hawkins, Indiana. One of the members of their group mysteriously goes missing. During the search for their friend, they come upon a young girl with psychokinetic abilities who is being chased by a governmental agency. That is just the beginning of the story.
Scream: The Series
Now, before you say no to this one, I will tell you I was pleasantly surprised. I am a huge fan of the Scream movie series and initially thought this would be a terrible series. I was wrong. Scream does a fabulous job of taking the films’ premise and modernizing it while keeping it true to the slasher genre.
Seasons 1 and 2 focus on a story based in the town of Lakewood and the Lakewood Slasher. The town’s horrific past comes back to haunt a new generation.
Season 3 brings a new story and set of characters, and this time, Ghostface is the killer
Goosebumps
If you are a fan of R.L Stein, this is the series for you. It’s a great time to revisit your childhood while introducing this series to your kids. Goosebumps is a series that is great for a younger audience that will keep the parents’ attention as well.
There are five seasons of Goosebumps available to stream, which is an anthology series based on the children’s books written by Stein. With it being an analogy, this allows a lot more freedom in watching as you can start anywhere you like with each story being concluded in an episode.
And, if Stein is a favorite, be sure to check out the Fear Street trilogy of films.
