Halloween is almost upon us! We’re a little over a week away from the big day, but we here at Netflix Life have been celebrating the holiday since the beginning of October.

From sharing the best Halloween shows and movies on Netflix to keeping you updated on where your favorite frightening classics are streaming, it’s been a non-stop spook-o-rama on your go-to site for all things Netflix. But we’re not winding down the festivities just yet, we’re still up for more thrills and chills.

Everyone knows the spookiest season of the year is for all ages, however, that can sometimes get lost when trick-or-treating leaves the conversation. Sure, there are plenty of family Halloween movies to enjoy but it’s the horror classics that really get people excited for their watch lists.

Here’s the thing though, children’s horror movies are their own brand of frightening fun and Netflix has enough of them with a side of fantasy adventures to keep any kid delighted in the lead up to Halloween.

That’s why we’ve put together this list of PG Halloween movies on Netflix for children who want a little more bite with their holiday fun. First up is Nightbooks, the newest fantasy horror to make its land on Netflix for kids!

PG Halloween movies on Netflix: Nightbooks (2021)

If your child loves a good horror movie then Nightbooks is the Netflix original for them. The movie centers on a boy named Alex who winds up trapped in a witch’s apartment. Upon penalty of death, the young writer must tell Natacha a scary story every night. Should he fail, any hope of escaping her grasp and returning to his parents will disappear.

Hope has already left his friend, Yasmine, who’s been stuck in the apartment for years. However, Alex’s insistence that they can outsmart Natacha and wrestle back their freedom has her thinking maybe escape is possible. The two will need to keep their wits about them though as there’s more to Natacha than the two realize and there are creatures looking to harm them if they’re not careful.
