A list of scary films wouldn’t be complete without the movie that made generations of people afraid to go into the ocean. Jaws might be a classic from the 70s, but it has scared and will continue to scare people for years to come.

The story is about a man-eating great white shark that terrorizes a summer resort town and threatens the summer tourist season when the beaches are shut down. The mayor, wanting to keep up morale and ensure the summer season is prosperous, fights the local police chief about the seriousness of the shark attacks. The police chief Roy Scheider (Richard Dreyfuss), a marine biologist, and a shark hunter (Robert Shaw) make it their mission to find and kill the great white that continues to rack up a body count.

It is a great film that is a must-watch for fans of thrillers.

The Old Ways

The Old Ways premiered at the Sitges Film Festival in 2020 and on Netflix in August 2021.

In the movie, a young journalist, Cristina, travels to Veracruz, the home of her ancestors, to investigate witchcraft and healers who live there. A bruja orders her capture and performs many rituals on her, as the locals claim a demon possesses her. As she learns more about the demon, she starts to believe she may actually be possessed.

This is a scary film and if you don’t like snakes, skip this one! This film gives a new twist on possession and exorcisms.
