Bridgerton premiered on Netflix on Christmas Day 2020. It was one of the biggest Netflix new releases to date as fans fell in love with the new romance TV series.
The Netflix original series is based on the book series of the same name by Julia Quinn. The first season, more or less, follows the first book of the series, The Duke and I.
The series is set in Regency Era London and follows several families, including the Bridgertons as Daphne is in her first season. She strikes up a bargain with Simon Basset, and then the real sparks start to fly. Meanwhile, a gossip columnist known as Lady Whistledown is tearing things down around the ton.
Bridgerton is renewed for season 2 on Netflix. It will largely follow the second book of Quinn’s series, The Viscount Who Loved Me. Sex Education star Simone Ashley is joining the cast as Kate Sharma, who will play the love interest of Anthony Bridgerton, in season 2.
We’re expecting Bridgerton season 2 will be released on Netflix in 2022.
