Dash and Lily season 2 is not happening for Christmas 2021

October has finally come, so you know what that means! Many people are getting their DIY Halloween costumes ready and watching horror movies on Netflix, while others are putting up their Christmas lights and singing along to holiday tunes already. It’s officially time to start celebrating the best holidays of the year, and of course that means new movies and shows to enjoy.

Netflix is really great at releasing original titles in time for the holidays, which we’ve seen with their Netflix and Chills Halloween lineup so far. And now, the streamer has just released their list of upcoming Christmas movies and shows! What a time.

And while many people are getting excited about The Princess Switch 3 release date — which is coming sooner than you’d think! — and news that The Great British Baking Show: Holidays: Season 4 is coming our way, others are saddened to see one fun Christmas title excluded from the list.

It’s been confirmed that Dash and Lily season 2 is not happening in time for this holiday season, and we have reason to believe it may never happen at all, sadly.

Is Dash and Lily season 2 happening?

As we previously reported, rumor has it Dash and Lily was actually canceled, although Netflix has not confirmed this. This belief came about when producer Shawn Levy briefly talked about the future of the show with Collider back in August. When answering whether or not I Am Not Okay With This would be returning for another season, he explained:

"“Currently, not. Dreams of a comeback in some form or format? Yes. But no current plan and that was kind of a heartbreaker of a lesson. It’s a reminder that sometimes you can make something really good and do your job right and still have no control over viewership or box office and outcome. So that’s one of those shows, like Dash and Lily, which just won a bunch of Daytime Emmys where it’s like we, and the team at 21 Laps, feel like we made the show we promised. We made the show we wanted. Not enough people watched and it is a cruel metric in the age of the streaming wars. And sometimes, if you don’t get the eyeballs, you don’t get to make more of the thing. That’s what happened there.”"

Levy didn’t explicitly confirm Dash and Lily was canceled, but he made it seem like we likely won’t get another season anytime soon. Sadly, this holiday season will not include another trip to New York City to see what the two titular characters are up to.
