“The Bubble Boy”

Seinfeld season 4 episode 7, “The Bubble Boy” puts all of the terrible traits about the group that audiences love on display. Jerry and Elaine encounter the father of a boy in a bubble. George and Susan, who invited Jerry and Elaine to Susan’s cabin with a planned stop to visit the bubble boy, drive so fast that Jerry cannot keep up.

Arriving first, George and Susan play Trivial Pursuit with him. After a misprinted card sets off George’s smugness, causing a fight,  he ends up popping the boy’s bubble. Did we mention it was also his birthday?

Meanwhile, Jerry and Elaine upset a waitress at a local diner, which happens to be around the corner from the bubble boy.

“The Fusilli Jerry”

Seinfeld season 6 episode 21, is another episode that ties together all of the storylines. Kramer receives the incorrect license plates. They read A–MAN and despite his pleas that he is not the A–MAN, the DMV worker tells him, “according to the state of New York, you, Cosmo Kramer, are the A–MAN.” Insert Kramer twitch.

Kramer uses this to pick up women and to use the staff parking at the hospital. In addition, Kramer makes a Jerry figurine out of fusilli pasta, because Jerry is silly.

The episode comes to a head when Frank Costanza arrives at Jerry’s apartment, accusing Kramer of making a move on his wife. Unfortunately, Frank sits on the Fusilli Jerry. He ends up at a proctologist, who the group finds out, is the real A–MAN.

“The Chinese Restaurant”

Seinfeld season 2 episode 11, “The Chinese Restaurant,” is often considered the turning point for the show. Set entirely in a restaurant as they wait for a table, all of the annoyances that occur in real life are portrayed.

This is the best example of the show’s premise, a show about nothing. Almost unheard of, this episode changed the course of the series. Seinfeld solidified itself as a genre-breaking show that was finally hitting its stride after a couple of funny but somewhat average seasons.

Seinfeld used the momentum from this episode to strike gold in season 3 and beyond, well on its way to one of the best sitcoms of all time.

“The Opposite”

Seinfeld season 5 episode 22, “The Opposite,” is based on the premise that if everything in life goes wrong, is it bad luck, or is due to poor natural instinct? Down on his luck, George declares that he will do the opposite action of every natural instinct he has.

Starting by ordering the opposite meal of what he normally gets, he snags a date with a beautiful woman and later, gets a job with New York Yankees.

Meanwhile, Jerry is questioning whether his life is even-steven. Everything balances out. This is further proven when Elaine declares herself as George, when she loses her job and her apartment. George is on the rise, Elaine is on the decline and Jerry is balanced, as always.
