Warning: This article contains spoilers from Sex Education season 3!

Sex Education season 3 has officially premiered on Netflix, and it already has us asking so many darn questions. As promised, this season was bigger than ever, tensions were high and the stakes were even higher, and now it looks like everything has finally come crashing down.

Relationships have been split apart, friendships almost didn’t survive and, worst of all, the school where all of our favorite moments have happened may be in danger of being shut down.

Though we are proud of these students taking a stand against the ridiculous and suffocating rules that the new Headmistress instilled, their epic revolt came with the extremely unfortunate consequence of Moordale Secondary School being closed for good and the students being displaced to very different schools.

Nevertheless, you may be wondering if there are other underlying reasons as to why this school is being closed or if the revolt really was the last straw. We tell you everything to know, below.

Why is Moordale shut down in Sex Education season 3?

As we’ve seen in the previous season, talks of Moordale Secondary School being closed have always been a topic of discussion. Following the STD hysteria and the pornographic play (both shown in the second season), higher-ups haven’t been too pleased about the fact that this school has been straying away from education and has been branded as the “sex school” as a result of the students’ raunchy behavior and attitude.

Headmistress Hope did her best to implement changes to make the school outgrow its controversial title. Doing so would mean that investors would back the school financially. However, as we know, Hope went about bringing this change the wrong way, and by cracking down on the students in such a jarring manner, she only further infuriated the students more, hence why they publicly rebelled against her with a sex-filled school assembly attended by both prospects and investors.

Naturally, once the crazed rebellion was all said and done, the higher-ups decided that the school was beyond anyone’s saving, including Headmistress Hope’s, and ultimately pulled their funding, thus revoking the Moordale of its school status.

We’re going to have to wait until Sex Education season 4 to know whether or not investors will reverse this decision to defund the school. We’re crossing our fingers, hoping this isn’t the end of a remarkable era, but if it is, thankfully we have three seasons that take place in our beloved high school to help us cope.

Do you think Moordale Secondary School is gone for good? Feel free to let us know your theories in the comments below. Be sure to watch every season of Sex Education including the newest season right now only on Netflix.
