Sex Education season 3 spoilers: How does season 3 end?

Sex Education season 3 is now streaming on Netflix as of Friday, Sept. 17, 2021. We had to wait a long time for the new season, but it was all worth the wait.

So much happened in Sex Education season 3! It’s hard to even remember all the big things that happened in the new season of the Netflix original series.

To make sure you remember everything as we look ahead to Sex Education season 4, we shared what happened at the end of Sex Education season 3.

Sex Education season 3 spoilers

The Sex Education season 3 ending is wild! I feel like we need to break it down by character. There is just too much going on in the season 3 finale. It was so action-packed, and there were so many storylines to wrap up.

For some characters, they got endings we wanted to see. For others, things were a little tougher, and then for the rest, their stories were spun in complete new directions.

I don’t even know where to start, but I guess we’ll have to start with the couple we all want to see together, Maeve and Otis.

Do Otis and Maeve break up?

This is a tough one. The answer is, they don’t really end up together, but they don’t really break up either. Maeve makes up with Otis, and they seem to be together. But, instead of turning down a big opportunity, Maeve goes off to study in the United States. She leaves in the middle of the night, and Otis and Maeve have this great moment right before she leaves. It’s tough for both characters, but I think it shows how much they both love each other.

Otis asks what it means for them, and Maeve says they’ll just see what happens when she gets back. Otis is obviously disappointed, but he wants Maeve to be happy, ultimately, and this is what she wants.

For Maeve, she knows this is what she wants, and she’ll figure out what’s up with their relationship in the future.

The will-they/won’t-they continues into Sex Education season 4, hopefully!

Does Jean survive?

There’s a close call in Sex Education season 3 with Jean Milburn. After giving birth to the soon-to-be-named Joy, Jean knows something is wrong. She passes out and is rushed into emergency surgery. We don’t know if she’s going to make it.

Luckily, she pulls through!

Who is the father of Jean’s baby?

We know it’s not Jakob!

Jean survives after complications during the birth of her daughter, but while she’s in the hospital, she receives the results of the paternity test. She looks shocked when she finds out!

So, who is the father of Jean’s baby? I don’t know, but I can’t wait to find out.

Will Jean allow Hope to adopt the baby?

We all saw how Hope was trying to get pregnant, along with the pressure and pain it was causing her, throughout Sex Education season 3. Could Jean give up the baby for Hope to adopt her?

We also saw a touching scene with Otis and Hope at the hospital, as Otis tries to comfort and troubled Hope. Other than moving Otis’s story forward and seeing the toll this has taken on Hope, I wonder if there was some other reason for this scene that we could see in season 4.

I’m not saying that I think this is going to happen. I think that Jean will keep the baby, but it was interesting how seeing the conversations with Otis and Hope at the hospital and Jean and Hope at the hospital.

Do Adam and Eric break up?

At the end of Sex Education season 3, Eric breaks up with Adam. Eric kissed the photographer in Nigeria, and while he feels bad about hurting Adam, he lets Adam know that he doesn’t regret the kiss because it reinforces what he was already feeling.

Adam is obviously upset, and so is Eric, but both seem ready to move on by the season’s end. Eric is back to being himself, while Adam is trying new things: poetry and dog training competitions.

Will Adam and Rahim get together?

This is one of the most interesting storylines of season 3 was Adam and Rahim’s relationship. Rahim blames Adam for stealing Eric from him, which is understandable given that’s pretty much what happened.

Over the course of the season, Adam helps Rahim out when he’s in a “sh***y” situation, and Rahim repays the favor by reading one of Adam’s poems. Rahim sends a text to Adam at the end of the season, and Adam laughs.

I think there’s something happening here…

Does Amy break up with Steve?

Yes! Finally! Amy finds the courage to break up with Steve, and he’s understandably devastated, which is sad, but we know that’s what is right for Amy.

She needs to fly like Eric in season 4.

Do Ola and Lily break up?

Ola and Lily basically break up in Sex Education season 3 after Ola reveals that the alien stuff in the bedroom weirds her out sometimes. Lily is also shamed by Hope and the whole school for her writing, which sends her into a depression.

After Otis apologizes, Lily comes back to school and finds out that not everyone hates her stories. In fact, she has some fans.

Ola and Lily reconnect at the end of the season and they get back together! It’s a great moment as they watch the skies for aliens, and maybe actually see them?

Does Maureen get back together with Michael, Adam’s dad?

Yes, Maureen does get back together with Adam’s dad, but it’s very brief. Michael is making a lot of progress and growing in season 3. After finding a love of cooking in season 3, Michael and Maureen get back together for a short time, but after Adam tells Maureen to not mention the dog thing to his dad, Maureen realizes she needs to be there for Adam right now and getting back with Michael will be a mistake.

Do Jackson and Cal start dating?

Jackson and Cal have feelings for each other, but at the very end of the season, Cal tells Jackson that Jackson isn’t ready for their relationship, and Cal’s right.

It’s a tough moment, but I think we know they’ll be friends. In Cal’s final scene, we see Cal helping Layla with a binder.

Where will they go to school in Sex Education season 4?

At the end of season 3, everyone is told that Moordale is closing and the students will have to find a new school to attend by the end of the term.

It’s unclear what’s going to happen next, but my money is that someone “buys” Moordale and turns it into a different school or something like that. These characters just have to stay together.

The other option is that they all split up, which causes rifts, and then they get back together at the end.

Is Sex Education season 4 happening?

Netflix has not renewed Sex Education for season 4 yet. We think that’s going to change when the series is featured at TUDUM on Sept. 25, 2021. It’s a Netflix fan event where the streaming network is sharing release dates, news, trailers, and more!
