Chicago Party Aunt is an upcoming animated Netflix original that has comedy fans and Chicagoans eager to binge it. The official trailer hints at a series that is primed to make streamers laugh, binge and craving Italian beef.  Season 1 premieres on Netflix on Friday, Sept. 17.

Creator Christ Witaske, a Chicago native and Second City alum, has turned the novelty Twitter account of the same name into a full season of storylines. His other Netflix original credits include Judd Apatow’s, Love. Besides Witaske, fellow Second City alum Lauren Ash voices Diane, while John Barinholtz, Katie Rich, and Rory O’Malley round out the voice cast.

To date, Netflix has continued to beef up their animated game since Bojack Horseman with releases such as Big Mouth and Disenchantment. Chicago Party Aunt promises to fulfill these giant footsteps with its Chicago branded humor.

Chicago Party Aunt seeks to enjoy the same long and successful run that its predecessors, Bojack Horseman and Big Mouth had, rather than suffer the same fate that a more recent animated Netflix original release, Tuca & Bertie had, which Netflix canceled after 1 season.

Chicago Party Aunt plot synopsis

We shared the Chicago Party Aunt synopsis below, via Netflix:

"Chicago Party Aunt is a half-hour animated comedy that follows Diane Dunbrowski, AKA The Chicago Party Aunt, as she stays true to her mantra ‘If life gives you lemons, turn that shit into Mike’s Hard Lemonade’."

Chicago Party Aunt follows the daily life of Diane Dunbrowski as she lives up to her name as the “Chicago Party Aunt. After Diane’s nephew, Daniel, decides to not attend Stanford, he is dropped off at Diane’s house where he experiences her no holds barred lifestyle first hand. After a rocky start, the pair begin to bond and he learns to accept his aunt’s “quirks”.

Living by the mantra, “If life gives you lemons, turn that s**t into Mike’s Hard Lemonade,” Diane does her best to keep her neighbors living life hard, the only way she knows. Set in Chicago, it is a given that Italian beef, beer, and Wrigley Field bleachers make an appearance in the show. Above all, Diane stays true to her roots with her blunt personality and humor.

Watch Chicago Party Aunt on Netflix starting on Sept. 17.
