Sex Education season 4 has just premiered on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, and fans all over rejoice because it’s been such a long wait. While we’ve been waiting, we’ve been researching the stars of the TV show, such as Emma Mackey.

Emma Mackey plays Maeve Wiley on the hit Netflix original, and fans of the show immediately fell in love with the social outcast/bad girl. But even more so, they fell in love with Maeve and Otis’s will-they-won’t-they relationship. Do the two characters end up together in Sex Education season 4? You’ll have to watch to find out! Fans have become so invested in Maeve and Otis’ fictional relationship that they’ve even shipped the actors in real life. I mean, Emma Mackey and Asa Butterfield have some serious chemistry, so I don’t blame them!

We would love to see Mackey and Butterfield date in real life, but they aren’t. They’re just really good actors who have really great chemistry. Butterfield appears to be single at the moment, so maybe we could see a possible relationship between them at some point in the future, but we doubt it.

According to a report from Bustle in Feb. 2023, it’s believed that Mackey is dating a film director and photographer named Martin Aleman. They were photographed together at the BAFTAs 2023, where the actress won the EE Rising Star Award. Apparently, that night, she publicly shared a kiss with Aleman, signaling their potential romance. And on top of that, Bustle reports that Aleman called Mackey “my love” on his Instagram Story that evening.

Aleman has worked with Mackey on photoshoots before — his Instagram is full of photos of the actress — and it’s worth noting that he’s followed by some of Mackey’s former co-stars, including Sex Education‘s Ncuti Gatwa and Emily‘s Oliver Jackson-Cohen.

Mackey was rumored to be dating aspiring actor Dan Whitlam a few years ago, but that ended at an undisclosed time. Unfortunately, seeing as though Mackey deleted her Instagram, we aren’t able to tell much intel about her personal life.

We’ve seen how public relationships for actors could go, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Mackey preferred to keep her relationship status hidden. She’s also become well-known for her role in Sex Education, and sometimes fame can cause a rift in relationships.
