It’s a big moment for Lucifer fans as the fan-favorite series releases its sixth and final season on Netflix. After a rocky road that includes being canceled by Fox, saved by Netflix and celebrated by fans worldwide, the series is coming to an end with season 6.

The Lucifer series finale looks to be one of the biggest series conclusions so far for a Netflix original series, and the devoted Lucifans around the world aren’t going to want to miss a moment of the final 10 episodes, but some won’t get to join in on the release day fun.

Although most loyal viewers of the series have been anxiously anticipating Lucifer season 6’s release date on Friday, Sept. 10, fans in Germany aren’t able to watch the series on Netflix along with the rest of the Lucifans. That’s an unfortunate setback for any viewers who have been there since the beginning.

But why isn’t Lucifer available to stream on Netflix in Germany? It’s a complicated case of distribution rights, a situation that came about when the streamer saved the series from cancellation. Let’s get into all the details ahead of the series’ big ending.

Is Lucifer on Netflix in Germany?

According to a post on Reddit, Lucifer hasn’t been available on Netflix Germany because Amazon Prime Germany retained the exclusive distribution rights to the series even after Netflix took the series off Fox’s hands.

It’s an interesting circumstance since, as we know with Netflix recently acquiring Manifest from NBC, the streaming service typically prefers to hold the exclusive worldwide distribution rights for its series, meaning Netflix is the only service on which you can watch the show.

As long as Amazon Prime Video continues to hold the rights to distribute Lucifer in Germany, fans won’t be able to log into Netflix and watch the series. Of course, where there’s a will, there’s a way, but that’s a different online search.

Right now, it’s unclear why the series remains on Amazon Prime Germany and what the hold up is on making the leap to Netflix, considering the series has now wrapped its final season. Here’s to hoping Lucifer will come to Netflix in Germany sometime soon!
