September officially is here and there are a bunch of new Netflix movies and shows to watch, as of Wednesday, September 1, 2021.

I would say finally, but it feels like August went by in 7 days. But now it’s here and it’s “officially” fall. Sure, it feels like the middle of July outside, but it doesn’t matter. it’s time for sweaters! It’s also time for Netflix to add a bunch of new releases.

Everything from rom-coms to mysteries to fan-favorites from the 90s and 2000s, Netflix has a little something for everyone on the first day of September 2021.

New Netflix movies

If you are a rom-com fan, get ready for a movie marathon because Netflix has quite a few coming out on Sept 1. A Cinderella Story, Dear John, Letters to Juliet, and Love Don’t Cost a Thing are all available to stream.

Of these, A Cinderella Story is probably the most notable. It stars Hilary Duff, Chad Michael Murray, Jennifer Coolidge, and Regina King and gives us a modern take on the classic fairytale. But instead of losing a glass slipper, she loses her phone and Prince Charming AKA Austin has to use that to try and find her.

More in the mood for a murder mystery? Agatha Christie’s Crooked House is also available to stream this Sept. 1. The movie stars Glenn Close, Gillian Anderson, Christina Hendricks, Max Irons, and Terence Stamps.

Based on the classic novel, it tells the story of a private detective who must find the killer of his lover’s grandmother. But it won’t be easy when the family is hiding lots of dark secrets.

There are also a bunch of fan-favorite films coming to Netflix today including School of Rock, Mars Attacks!, Labyrinth, and Green Lantern. While School of Rock probably has the biggest fanbase of the four, they all have their group of diehard fans that love each film.

School of Rock is perhaps the most memorable because it stars Jack Black, has a script that is infinitely quotable (“you’re tacky and I hate you”), and shows a bunch of kids being rockstars. What’s better than that? I know I definitely wanted to learn how to play the guitar after I saw this movie and I know I’m not the only one.

The beginning of September also brings the first three House Party movies and the first and second Nutty Professor movies starring Eddie Murphy.
