Clickbait is now streaming on Netflix, and it’s wild! After watching Clickbait, we just have to talk about the Clickbait ending.

In the Netflix original series, Nick (Adrien Grenier) is kidnapped and live-streamed. When the live stream reaches five million views, Nick will be killed. The series is a mad scramble to find Nick before it’s too late.

If you haven’t seen Clickbait yet, you might want to finish the first season before moving on and reading below.

There are spoilers ahead for Clickbait on Netflix.

Clickbait ending

I did not see this ending coming! It’s a total switch from what I thought was happening the whole time.

Obviously, we knew that Nick was killed much earlier in the series, but we weren’t sure what happened to him or who killed him. That’s all revealed in the finale.

In the final episode of Clickbait, Kai (Jaylin Fletcher), Nick’s son, pays a visit to the address of the person who he thinks killed his father. He brings his baseball bat to do some damage.

At the house, Kai finds Dawn Gleed (Becca Lish) and her husband, Ed. Remember, Dawn worked with Nick at the school? Well, there’s more going on than meets the eye.

Dawn, who obtained Nick’s work passwords, cloud, and more to help set up his computers years earlier, also created fake dating profiles for Nick. She’s been the one communicating with all these women over the years. Nick wasn’t actually involved!

Instead of owning up for her mistakes, Dawn and Ed kidnap Kai and take him to their trailer out of town. They plan to kill him. Luckily, Kai’s mom, Sophie (Betty Gabriel), and Pia (Zoe Kazan), and the police are right behind them.

During this time, we see lots of flashbacks of Dawn soliciting these women, getting caught by Ed, and more. We also see a bloodied and battered Nick arrive at Dawn’s house. It’s clear that he’s put everything together. The kidnapping was all Dawn’s fault.

Nick says he’s going to the police, and right then, Ed hits Nick in the head twice with a hammer and kills Nick. Ed was trying to protect Dawn, but he made everything worse.

Finally, Kai escapes at the trailer. In a long, drawn-out chase scene, the police eventually catch up with Dawn, Ed, and Kai. Ed turns his gun on Kai, but then, he lets him go to the police and Sophie.

Instead of surrendering, Ed raises the gun at the police and is killed by the police officers. Dawn survives.

The series ends with Pia and Sophie hugging and crying at Nick’s funeral.

What a wild, wild Netflix series! It’s unclear if Clickbait season 2 is happening on Netflix.
