What is Clickbait about?

Clickbait is an upcoming eight-episode crime drama miniseries set to be released on Netflix on August 25, 2021. The series is created by Australian screenwriters Tony Ayres and Christian White.

Clickbait is an American-Australian production with a mixture of American and Australian actors portraying the characters. It stars Entourage star Adrian Grenier as Nick Brewer, Get Out standout Betty Gabriel as Sophie Brewer and Olive Kitteridge’s Zoe Kazan as Pia Brewer.

Clickbait also includes a supporting cast of fairly new faces to Hollywood. The supporting cast comprises Jessie Collins, Ian Meadows, Daniel Henshall, Jaylin Fletcher, Elizabeth Alexander and many more.

According to Film Victoria Australia, filming took place in Melbourne, Australia, making this the first-ever Netflix original series to be created in Victoria. However, the series is set in the U.S. Hopefully, a trend will start of new Netflix series being filmed in Victoria!

The miniseries was produced by Matchbox Pictures and Tony Ayres Productions, Australian-based production companies, and British studio Heyday Television.

Clickbait synopsis

Clickbait focuses on a seemingly loving family man, Nick Brewer, who is one day kidnapped by a mystery person. The mystery person decides to use a social media site and forces Nick to create a video, exposing who he really is, an abuser.

This mystery person seems to have been a victim of Nick’s abuse in the past and is now seeking revenge. In the video, Nick looks bruised and battered and holds up a sign that reads, “I abuse women. At 5 million views, I die.”

In disbelief, Nick’s loved ones, Sophie and Pia, hurry to find and save him before it’s too late. But as they start to uncover new information about Nick, they begin to question if they ever really knew him.
