Is The Defeated season 2 happening?

You’ve probably already finished The Defeated season 1 by now and are wondering if you’ll get to see a continuation of the story. The season 1 finale was staggering and left many of us eager to know what’s next for the brilliantly written characters. It was truly a satisfying season finale, but we’re able to tell that the story isn’t completely finished. There are still loose ends that need to be tied. So is The Defeated season 2 happening?

The Defeated is currently sitting at the No.7 spot on the TV show section of Netflix’s top 10 list. Its ranking isn’t surprising seeing as though, the crime drama is well-written and the camera quality is superb. And don’t get us started on the actors’ powerful performances. Everything comes together to create a gritty and thrilling show.

We have to give credit where credit’s due. The all-star cast who gave their all in their performances consists of Taylor Kitsch as Max McLaughlin, Michael C. Hall as Tom Franklin, Logan Marshall-Green as Moritz McLaughlin, Nina Hoss as Elsie Garten, Sebastian Koch as Dr. Werner ‘Engelmacher’ Gladow and many others.

Will there be a The Defeated season 2?

There is most likely to be a season 2 of The Defeated. According to TheCinemaholic, the crime drama’s creator Måns Mårlind created the show with two seasons in mind. There should be a series total of 16 episodes split in half between both seasons. So, we should be expecting eight episodes in season 2.

As I mentioned earlier, season 1 ended in a way where the story could be continued. This was probably done on purpose because Mårlind knew that there would be a good chance for a season 2.

The Defeated season 2 expected release date

Currently, there isn’t an official season 2 release date, but we can basically confirm that there will be a season 2 since it seems that filming for season 2 was happening at the beginning of the year. We’re basing our confirmation on a photo that Logan Marshall-Green took on set while filming for season 2.

It is now August, so there’s a chance that principal photography is done and the TV show has been moved into post-production. This means that we should be expecting season 2 to release on Netflix at the end of 2021 or early 2022.

Of course, these are just our predictions and The Defeated season 2 could come earlier. It all depends on if everything goes smoothly. We’ll let you know about the season 2 release date of the crime drama as more information comes out.
