Never Have I Ever

The Netflix original Never Have I Ever is created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher and is loosely based on Kaling’s life. Kaling and Fisher have also collaborated on The Mindy Project.

This month, the series released its second season to critical acclaim for its sweet storyline and a strong lead in newcomer Maitreyi Ramakrishnan who plays Devi Vishwakumar. This coming-of-age series tells Devi’s story as an Indian-American girl living in Sherman Oaks. Devi experiences all the usual teen drama of crushes, friendship, dealing with family members, and social embarrassment that often happens in the teen years. But, the series doesn’t shy away from heavier issues like the loss of a parent, a situation that Devi experiences that has overwhelming physical and emotional effects.

The series also stars Richa Moorjani, Jaren Lewison, Darren Barnet, Poorna Jagannathan, Lee Rodriguez and Ramona Young. John McEnroe, as himself, serves as the narrator of the series and Mohan, Devi’s father’s idol.

You will laugh and cry in this wonderful tale of a young girl trying to live her best life.

Tattoo Redo

Netflix has once again taken the reality series and given it an amazing new twist. Tattoo Redo is a reality series that helps people who have made poor choices in their body art. The series is hosted by comedian Jessimae Peluso, who has confessed to having her own tattoo disasters and adds a great comedic element to the series.

A friend or family member brings the client to the series knowing the story and suffering the client has gone through regarding their terrible tattoos. Five noteworthy tattoo artists are on hand to create magnificent cover-ups of the offensive ink. Matt Beckerich, Rose Hardy, Tommy Montoya, Miryam Lumpini and Twig Sparks are the featured tattoo artists, each with their own special style. The client agrees to have their ink redone, but there is a catch. The friend or family member who brings them in gets to choose the new design.

The trailer shows examples of the tattoos that people received and most likely immediately regret. We don’t see any of the reveals of the new ink, but the looks on their faces show that the new art is definitely an upgrade.

It is a great twist on the usual make-over type reality shows that looks like a lot of fun.
