Army of the Dead is a film that melds the zombie and heists dramas into one over-the-top film. A casino owner hires a group of mercenaries to retrieve $200 million from his casino safe. The catch? The casino is located in the middle of Las Vegas, which is now a city that has been walled off due to the fact zombies overrun it.

The film is the brainchild of director Zach Snyder. It features an amazing cast consisting of Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana de la Reguera, Theo Rossi, Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro, Raúl Castillo, Huma Qureshi and Garret Dillahunt.

The film perfectly blends humor and gore, making it an awesome film for those who love a good zombie flick. The zombies featured in this film are a much different breed from those seen before. This group is highly organized and has a hierarchy. It makes for a great added dynamic to the typical slow-moving undead we’ve seen in the past.

Critics praised the humor and gore but criticized the runtime of 148 minutes. However, viewers had great things to say about this film and are hoping for a sequel. For now, fans will have to settle for a prequel Army of Thieves in the fall of 2021.

The series Sweet Tooth is totally different look at a post-apocalyptic world. A devastating virus, known as “The Crumble,” has wiped out most of the world’s population and with it the emergence of hybrid infants that are part human/part animal.

This heartwarming tale follows a 10-year-old hybrid child, Gus. He is part human and part deer and longs to find his mother. Years after his father dies, Gus decides he will go in search of his mother. An accident occurs requiring the loner, Tommy Jepperd, to rescue Gus. Seeing Jepperd’s skills, Gus wants him to accompany him to find his mother. When Jepperd refuses, Gus follows him anyway. Jepperd is the one who coins the nickname Sweet Tooth for Gus.

Sweet Tooth is based on a comic series by Jeff Lemire. The tone of the series mirrors the tone of our reality during the pandemic lockdowns. The isolation, the threat of a virus, the fear of the unknown and distrust in other human beings are all too familiar in the real world. Sweet Tooth may be inspired by other apocalyptic works but stands alone in its storyline and overall feeling.

This series can be enjoyed by adults and young adults as well. It is a delightful fantasy adventure with a message of hope and endurance.
