Christmas movies on Netflix: Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey

There is nothing better than a Christmas musical. Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Story is a Netflix original film that is as delightful as the title makes it out to be.

The tale starts as a grandmother (Phylicia Rashad) reads a new Christmas tale to her adorable grandkids, who love the Christmas season but are longing for a new story. The underlying theme of a Christmas story is to believe in something, and Jingle Jangle does just that.

Inventor Jeronicus Jangle (Justin Cornwell, Forest Whitaker) is a brilliant inventor whose passion is glorious toys for children. When he thinks he has done his best work, his apprentice Gustafson (Keegan-Michael Key) is manipulated by Jangle’s invention and turns their lives upside down. Enter in Jangle’s delightful granddaughter Journey (Madalen Mills), and the story gears up everyone’s holiday spirits. Because what kind of Christmas story would this be without holiday cheer?

Also starring Hugh Bonneville, Anika Noni Rose, Lisa Davina Phillip and Ricky Martin, this Christmas musical will get you into the holiday spirit even if it is only July.

Christmas movies on Netflix: Holidate

This festive romantic comedy, Holidate, puts a new spin on a holiday romance.

Sloane (Emma Roberts) and Jackson (Luke Bracey) dread the holidays and the pressure to bring a date to the family gatherings. They are either trying too hard to make the date a relationship, or they end up spending time with someone they barely know. When they meet, while returning Christmas presents, they discuss Sloane’s aunt’s genius ‘Holidate’ idea, where she brings someone new to each holiday. The two agree to be each other’s Holidates so they don’t have to attend functions alone and relax and enjoy themselves.

Their dates start on New Year’s Eve, and the story follows their journey through a year’s worth of Holidates. It is a fun romantic comedy that is self-aware, in a good way, and puts a fun twist on those dreading the holidays with family when they will inevitably ask about your romantic life.
