Top Netflix shows: Big Mouth

If someone asked you what the Rotten Tomato score was for an animated show about teens going through puberty, I’m guessing you wouldn’t say it had an almost 100% rating. Well, that’s the case with Big Mouth. It has a 99% on Rotten Tomatoes. Clearly, if you’re not already watching it, you need to check it out.

The series features the voices of Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, Jessi Klein, Jason Mantzoukas, Fred Armisen, Maya Rudolph, Jordan Peele, and Jenny Slate. It follows a group of teens who are trying to figure out who they are while going through puberty and discovering their sexuality.

But they are not alone! They have hormone monsters to take this journey with them. The monsters help the kids go through the trials and tribulations of puberty and try to give them advice. Sometimes the advice is good and sometimes…it’s just wrong.

The recurring hormone monsters include Maury, Connie, Rick, Tyler, Mona, and Gavin. There is also the Shame Wizard that is the mortal enemy of the Hormone Monsters. He makes the kids feel ashamed of themselves and their actions.

While this show is not exactly appropriate for the kids it’s portraying, the stories it tells are definitely relatable to adults. We all know the hell that is puberty. With Big Mouth, we can at least laugh about it. And clearly, based on the rating, lots of people are watching and loving it.
