5 best shows on Netflix to watch this weekend: June 19-20

Elite 

The fourth season of Netflix’s Spanish teen drama Elite is now available on the streamer. This series has received critical acclaim, and Rotten Tomatoes has this to say about the series “Elite is highly digestible, technically strong trash TV for anyone with a guilty pleasure palate.”

The series is set in a fictional Las Encinas, which is an elite high school. The storyline centers around three working-class students enrolled via scholarship and their wealthy classmates. The series dives into normal teen drama but also focuses on progressive issues. Critics have stated that Elite is much more than your typical teen drama in that it explores those issues in a new light.

Elite uses flash-forwards and flashbacks to tell the stories making for an exciting ride. The series has been compared to Gossip Girl and Riverdale but with a refreshing twist.

Did I mention there is a murder investigation going on during all the drama? A student is murdered, and while focusing on the teen’s lives, you forget one of them could be the murderer.

The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals

Follow hosts Luis D. Ortiz, Jo Franco and Megan Batoon as they search out The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals. This series is a little different than the normal extravagant places the average person can’t afford. They feature rentals that can accommodate all budgets and all climates.

According to Netflix, this series will take you “From affordable treehouses to exclusive private islands, from unforgettable igloos to gourmet getaways.” The first season will take you worldwide to destinations like Alaska, Bali, Hawaii, Japan, Finland and the Berkshires.

The three hosts are tasked with seeking out different types of rentals. Jo looks for something unique, Megan searches for budget-friendly rentals, and Luis will show the extravagant destinations.

The photography alone is worth checking this of the shows on Netflix out, but you’ll continue watching for the fabulous destinations.
