Lucifer season 5 part 2, episode 14 recap: A big family reunion

If you didn’t think a family dinner was intense enough, how about a family reunion? In Lucifer season 5 part 2, episode 14, Lucifer announces he wants to be the next God, and his siblings are, well, less than thrilled.

God is retiring! And while becoming the next God wasn’t immediately what Lucifer wanted, the idea came to him after Amenadiel shares that he wishes he didn’t have to be God. Amenadiel is very responsible and all about selflessness. He is willing to be God, if he must, but would rather not.

As Lucifer points out to his siblings, has anyone else ran their own kingdom? Because, let’s not forget, Lucifer knows a thing or two about being a ruler. Is he a great ruler? That, I’m not so sure, but a ruler nonetheless.

Chloe is confused when Lucifer shares his plans. She simply does not understand why Lucifer would want to be God. Lucifer tells her that he’d be an even better God than his father. For starters, no more world hunger, now that’s a change I’m sure anyone would back up. But it’s not that simple.

Chloe is all in and decides to support Lucifer. While it does seem like Lucifer season 5 part 2 isn’t focusing on Deckerstar as much as we would have liked, the love is still present. Chloe trusts Lucifer is making the right decision.

What happens in Lucifer season 5 part 2 episode 14?

God’s retirement party

A retirement party with God at the grill in the middle of a park in Los Angeles…who would’ve thought!

We learn so much from this one scene. For starters, we meet a couple more of Lucifer’s siblings, Gabriel and Zadkiel. Remiel is also present, always lovely to see her! Remi and Amenadiel are still close. She and Lucifer? Not so much.

When Lucifer shares that he wants to be the new God, no one but Amenadiel approves.

Meet the parents

A Double Decker date! Just when we thought we had seen it all. Leave it to Lucifer to think a double date with Chloe, her mother, and God is a good idea. I’m not sure how Lucifer imagined things would go, but they don’t go well.

When Chloe asks God about his work and life balance, God admits that he never had much of a life. Work consumed all his time, which caused problems with his wife. This doesn’t look good for Chloe and Lucifer.

Maziqueen

Adorable fluffy puppies surround Maze. She’s afraid that her Hell loop will be breaking up with Eve over and over again, so Maze decides to feel guilty about something else. Like killing a puppy.

Amenadiel walks in, but Maze wouldn’t have gone through with it, anyway! Maze has a soul now, she’d never hurt anyone who didn’t deserve it. But when Maze learns that Lucifer wants to be God, she knows what to do.

Maze doesn’t request a change in her Hell loop. Instead, Maze asks Lucifer to make her the Queen of Hell (or Maziqueen, as she calls it). Lucifer agrees.

Is God truly losing it?

Amenadiel and God go golfing and God is playing a perfect game, so Amenadiel questions if God’s truly “losing it,” because it sure doesn’t seem like it!

God admits he didn’t notice, at first. But that Michael pointed it out and that’s when God paid closer attention. Immediately, Amenadiel realizes it is Michael pulling the strings here, making God believe there is something wrong with him.

Those three words

Gabriel delivers a message to her mother, who rushes back to Earth, but only with enough power to come back this one time.

God decides he has made his wife live in his universe for long enough. It’s time he lives in hers. But before they leave, God tells Lucifer those three words he has been wanting to hear: I love you. God even tells Lucifer that he is proud of the man he has become. Tears!
