Almost everyone uses Facebook every day, and the popular social networking site seems like it has been around forever. But the most compelling story members will find regarding Facebook would be how it all got started. It all comes to life in excellent fashion in the 2010 film, The Social Network.
Origin stories are never an easy thing to bring to the big screen, and it’s always a remarkable feat when someone is able to tell these tales of inception to completion in a thought-provoking manner. Luckily for fans in search of such an accomplished work cinematic genius, then they need to look no further than The Social Network, written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by David Fincher.
The film is based on the 2009 bookThe Accidental Billionaires written by co-founder Eduardo Saverin and tells the story of the founding of Facebook as well as the lawsuits that followed involving Saverin, Mark Zuckerberg, and The Winklevoss twins. The movie has a stellar cast, including Andrew Garfield, Jessie Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake, Max Minghella, Armie Hammer, Rashida Jones, Joseph Mazello, Rooney Mara, and Brenda Song.
The National Board of Review called The Social Network the best film of 2010 and earned eight Oscar nominations winning three Academy Awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score, and Best Editing.
