Netflix is making more shows and movies than any other streaming network right now. That usually results in lots of hit Netflix shows running for multiple seasons, like Stranger Things, Orange is the New Black, and many more. It also means that some Netflix shows are canceled after one season.

The latest Netflix show canceled after one season is The Irregulars, which premiered on Netflix at the end of March 2021. While the ratings seemed good for the new Netflix show, unfortunately, Netflix canceled the show anyway.

Is The Irregulars canceled?

The Irregulars tells the story of a group of youths solving supernatural crimes for Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson in London. It’s a new twist on the Sherlock Holmes stories, and unfortunately, we won’t get to see any more seasons of the series.

This cancellation news especially stings considering there were rumors that The Irregulars season 2 was already in the works at Netflix. We thought this was a slam dunk renewal at Netflix! I can’t believe that we’ll never see The Irregulars season 2 on Netflix.

We have no idea why Netflix canceled this show at this point in its run, but it’s likely that the demand for the series and viewership didn’t align with the cost of production. That’s usually what happens when Netflix cancels a quality show after one season.

Filming during the pandemic is incredibly expensive. With a big cast and crew needed for this series, it’s possible that the number was simply too big for the streaming network.

We’ll just have to wait and find out.
