Fans can’t wait to watch Ginny and Georgia season 2 on Netflix! The hit Netflix original series was renewed for season 2 in 2021, and now, everyone wants to know when the Ginny and Georgia season 2 release date is.

Luckily, we have some updates on that to share with fans of the series. We also know some of the cast who will be returning and what the new season will be about.

How many seasons of Ginny and Georgia are on Netflix?

There is one season of Ginny and Georgia on Netflix. The first season of the Netflix original series premiered on Netflix in February 2021.

Will there be a Ginny and Georgia season 2?

Yes, Netflix renewed Ginny and Georgia for season 2 in April 2021. The new season is coming to Netflix in 2023.

Ginny and Georgia season 2 release date

On Dec. 1, 2022, Netflix finally revealed the release date for Ginny & Georgia season 2. Although the new season won’t be released in 2022, fans won’t have to wait much longer. New episodes of the hit season premiere on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023.

Previously, it was confirmed by Scott Porter, via Instagram, that the cast and crew started filming Ginny and Georgia season 2 after Thanksgiving 2021. We later found out that the exact filming start date was Nov. 30. Production was set to run through April 2022, according to What’s on Netflix.

On April 22, Antonia Gentry (Ginny) posted on her Instagram page that she had wrapped filming for season 2. Six days later on April 28, Ginny and Georgia showrunner Debra J. Fisher posted on her Instagram page that filming had completely wrapped for season 2.

Since production wrapped in April, we believed the earliest we could see Ginny and Georgia season 2 on Netflix would be August or September 2022, about four to five months after production wraps. Normally, we have to wait about six months after production wraps, which would put the release date for season 2 sometime in October or even later in the year. However, the season ultimately won’t arrive until January 2023.

Ginny and Georgia season 2 cast

It looks like Antonia Gentry, Brianna Howry, Diesel La Torraca, Jennifer Robertson, Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass, Scott Porter, Raymond Ablack, Mason Temple, and Nathan Mitchell will be returning in their roles for Ginny and Georgia season 2. If there are flashback scenes of teen Georgia and teen Zion in season 2 (which is likely to happen), we’ll likely see the return of Nikki Roumel and Kyle Bary. Their appearances haven’t been confirmed, though. Chelsea Clark and Katie Douglas will also be returning.

Joining the season 2 cast is Locke and Key‘s Aaron Ashmore. He will be playing Gil Timmins, Georgia’s ex-husband and Austin’s father.

Netflix has not announced the full cast yet, but we’ll let you know when that information is available.

Ginny and Georgia season 2 synopsis

It doesn’t take a genius to guess what could go down next time around, especially after seeing the ending of the first season. Georgia’s potential involvement with her husband’s disappearance or dying will be something that gets explored more. There is also the matter of whether or not Ginny and Austin make their way back to their mother after their unhappy exit. The former will have to rebuild her personal life as things began to crumble.

"How do you live with the knowledge that your mother is a murderer? That’s what Ginny is going to have to figure out. Burdened with the new understanding that Kenny – her step-dad – didn’t die of natural causes, now Ginny must deal with the fact that Georgia not only killed, she killed to protect Ginny. Georgia on the other hand would much prefer that the past be left in the past, after all, she’s got a wedding to plan! But the funny thing about Georgia’s past is that it never stays buried for long…"

It’s safe to assume that there won’t be a dull moment in Ginny and Georgia season 2.
