Why was Kim’s Convenience canceled?

Kim’s Convenience is so good! The first four seasons of the series are available to stream on Netflix right now.

The series, which airs on CBC in Canada, premiered in 2016. Last year, the series was renewed for multiple seasons following season 4. Unfortunately, it was announced earlier this year that the series would actually be ending after season 5 when the show’s co-creators had left the show. They moved on to other projects, according to a statement by the

I know it’s unfortunate when the creators leave a show, but it’s not like there’s no one else to could run the show and the writers’ room, right? So many other shows have moved on after the original creative team left for other projects. I was hoping that Kim’s Convenience would do something like that.

Honestly, it’s not likely that Kim’s Convenience will be saved by Netflix, but Netflix has deep pockets, has always been looking for hits, and has shown how to bring a show back from the dead. Perhaps, Netflix could reunite the cast and creative for a sixth season at a later date? I hope something like that happens.

With Simu Liu starring in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and getting exposure around the world, Kim’s Convenience is only going to become more popular as fans fall in love with the star.

This show is so, so, so good. You should definitely watch it on Netflix if you haven’t yet.
