Kim’s Convenience season 4: Will actor Simu Liu still star after Marvel casting?

Simu Liu is set to star in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in the title role and we are beyond excited! But does this mean we won’t see him in Kim’s Convenience season 4?

It’s safe to say Marvel has won San Diego Comic-Con 2019 with the numerous thrilling news and updates on what is to come for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Among the incredible news, fans learned Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will soon be in the works, starring Canadian actor Simu Liu.

Now, the name may not ring a bell to most people, but those who are fans of Kim’s Convenience are more than familiar with Simu Liu! The actor stars in the underrated comedy as Jung Kim, a man in his mid-20s trying to live his best life while dealing with a troubled past and complicated relationship with his father.

As serious as that may all sound, Kim’s Convenience is a charming and sweet lighthearted comedy. Kim’s Convenience was actually included in our list of 15 most underrated shows to watch on Netflix.

The Canadian sitcom premiered on CBC Television in October 2016 and was recently renewed for a fourth season. Once a season is finished airing on its parent network, it goes to Netflix for audiences outside of Canada to enjoy! If you haven’t checked it out, you need to! The series follows the lives of a Korean-Canadian family who run a convenience store in Toronto.

A fourth season was ordered before Simu Liu landed a role in Marvel’s growing family. Will this complicate his commitment to Kim’s Convenience? We’re not sure, but it really shouldn’t.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is scheduled for release sometime come February 2021, but while we understand filming may take longer than most projects, Simu Liu should be wrapped with Kim’s Convenience long before this. Also, if he auditioned for the role, it could mean his Kim contract allows him plenty of time.

The better question is, will season 4 be the final season for Kim’s Convenience? Because, surely as Liu heads into shooting Shang-Chi, his schedule will be pretty busy. We’ll have to see what the future holds, but we wish Simu Liu the best in everything he does!

Kim’s Convenience is an easy binge-watch this summer and highly recommended. All three seasons are streaming now on Netflix.
