You’ve seen the movies, and now it’s time to experience the anime. Pacific Rim: The Black season 1 is on Netflix tonight, and here’s all you need to know.

It’s the series that the fans of the 2013 movie have waited for. It was originally set for a 2020 release, but the pandemic put a hold on things. It’s certainly going to be worth the wait, though, and there’s even better news that it’s already been renewed for a second season.

All episodes of the first season will drop at once, as normal. You can start watching from 12:01 a.m. PT, with those on the east coast waiting until 3:01 a.m. Just a little bit longer.

What to expect on Pacific Rim: The Black

Pacific Rim: The Black will follow two siblings who are forced out of the safety of the home in search of their missing parents. While one sibling is sure their parents are still alive, the other doesn’t think that’s the case at all.

The two will need to pilot an abandoned Jaeger for their journey. They will need to cross a dangerous landscape surrounded by the Kaiju, creatures that rose from the Pacific Rim to fight against the Jaegers. Australia is overrun by the Kaiju, meaning everyone has had to evacuate the continent. That is everyone except Taylor and Hayley.

Not only do they have to face the dangers along the way, but they will also need to learn how to pilot the Jaegar, and that’s much easier said than done!

This is one of those shows that has certainly been in the works for a long time, and it’s exciting to finally get to watch.

The only downside to the series is the fact that these two characters are in Australia but have American accents. There is a Japanese version of it, though, which may (or may not) make up for that.
