Movies and shows on Netflix: I Am Legend

With all the talk of a COVID vaccine right now, there’s likely been a movie on your mind. Of course, there have been jokes of a zombie apocalypse because of the vaccine, and some of those thoughts come from the movie I Am Legend.

The Will Smith action movie is on Netflix on March 1, and it has to make it to our list of movies to watch this weekend. Even if not for the topic, this is one of Will Smith’s best movies. It’s extremely harder to remain compelling and interesting when there’s just one person on the camera for a long time, but Smith shows his action chops.

Sure, there’s a dog, but this dog never really talks back. She’s just the companion Smith’s character needs to prevent him from going completely mad. I’m still bitter about what happens to the dog during the movie, but it doesn’t stop me from appreciating this masterpiece.

Watch on March 1.

Movies and shows on Netflix: Moxie

It’s time for Amy Poehler’s second Netflix Original Movie. There is no way you can skip it, especially if you’re a Poehler fan.

Moxie follows a shy 16-year-old played by Hadley Robinson. When she makes a new friend who is extremely confident, Vivian decides it’s time to step out of her shell. She won’t do it in school, though.

Instead, Emma takes to the internet, publishing a zine anonymously where she can call out all the sexism at her school.

The zine quickly gets the attention of everyone at school, and not just other teenage girls. This is a chance for the group of students to come together and fight to bring change to their high school. But will anyone ever find out who is really behind Moxie and what will happen if they do?

Watch on Wednesday, March 3.
