TV shows have all types of couples, and some are more toxic than others

In some cases, the worst TV couples somehow ended up being some of the biggest ships in the fandoms (and I’m still scratching my head over how in many cases). In other cases, everyone sees past the chemistry and focuses on how bad the characters are for each other.

This isn’t about the couples that started bad but grew into something good. Gossip Girl‘s Chuck was not the right guy for Blair at first, but he learned to open up over time. As we got to know him better, he started to change into a better guy. Blair also grew into a better person as she accepted the world did not revolve around her.

Yet, there are some where the couples have never admitted fault. Or they were just so completely wrong to begin with.

Here are nine TV couples that should be (or should have been in the case where the shows wrapped) canceled. Not all the couples did end up together in the end, which is probably a good thing.

Friends TV couples: Ross and Rachel

I know there will be a lot of people screaming at me right now, but there’s just something I’ve never understood about Friends‘ Ross and Rachel. This coupling just doesn’t make a lot of sense, especially considering the constant back and forth between them.

Ross is a highly toxic individual. Everything is either his way or the high way, yet Rachel is continually willing to overlook that.

Rachel grew considerably throughout the 10 seasons of Friends. And she had some great guys who she could have ended up with. But Ross would always pull her back in despite them never really moving on from past arguments.

Okay, Rachel wasn’t perfect. Don’t get me started with the “we were on a break” argument. But at least she grew as an individual, which is way more than Ross ever did. Why did she get off the plane?
