We’re kicking off our Valentine’s Day Theme Week by taking a look at the many ships and couples on Netflix. Of course, the best couple – in my completely unbiased opinion – is Lucifer and Chloe, aka our beloved Deckerstar.

From the very first episode, the two had a connection. Lucifer found out Chloe was immune to his powers. And though Chloe wouldn’t have admitted it at the time, she was intrigued by the mysterious bar owner even if he did get on her nerves.

Almost five seasons in, we’ve gotten closer to what all us shippers truly desire. There were so many swoon-worthy Deckerstar moments in the first part of Lucifer season 5. In every season we see how much they mean to each other, but season 5 part 1 proved how powerful their love is (even if a certain someone is too scared to admit it).

This couple certainly had their ups and downs, and I don’t think it’s over yet. But there’s absolutely no argument that Lucifer and Chloe are meant for each other. As we celebrate love this week, here are a few reasons why Lucifer and Chloe are meant to be together.

Lucifer and Chloe are meant to be together

1. They’re true partners

Our favorite devil usually tends to make work cases about himself. Though he made a mistake in season 3 when he wasn’t there to protect Chloe while Pierce was, he soon realized his error. But other than that one time, we know how much Lucifer cherishes his partnership with Chloe and how much the work they do together means to him. They make a great team and he’s got her back.

The same can definitely be said about Chloe. She references their partnership many times. One of my favorite Deckerstar scenes is in season 2 episode 10 at John Decker’s murder trial. Though Lucifer’s mother tries to get Chloe to paint Lucifer’s testimony as false, she doesn’t do it. She even admits Lucifer is the best partner she’s ever had, definitely one of the best monologues in TV history!

2. They have a true connection

Even after spending thousands of years in Hell, Lucifer’s love for Chloe hasn’t faded. He still thought about her after all that time and yearned to be with her. In the season 5 premiere, he knows she’s working a case and does everything he can to help her solve it. It was interesting to see them working together on a case but doing so separately.

Back on Earth, it hasn’t been as long for Chloe, and she is most definitely missing Lucifer. His absence has really affected her. When Michael shows up, he couldn’t fool Chloe for long. She knew something was off from the first time she kissed him. This just proves how well Chloe knows Lucifer. Michael most certainly was not her devil.

3. They make each other vulnerable

Chloe has been a bit more open about her feelings, even admitting to Lucifer that he makes her vulnerable all the way back in season 1. In season 5, she tells him if he chooses to be vulnerable around her, then she chooses to be vulnerable around him. She’s also the one who said “I love you” first.

For Lucifer, he’s always chosen to be vulnerable with Chloe. She is the only human to see him for who he truly is. He opens his heart up to her so much that she can even mojo him. Though, Lucifer didn’t respond to this new development in the best way.

He, unfortunately, put his emotional walls back up, becoming invulnerable once again and too scared to even say “I love you.” We’ve seen how Lucifer reacts when he’s afraid of his feelings, but he always comes to the right realization. I know the same is going to happen again eventually and he’ll be able to admit his love to Chloe.

Don’t forget, this is probably the scariest thing he’s been through. It’s not easy to completely let someone in, no matter how much he loves her. Chloe also has her own fears about their relationship. They’ve still got a way to go, but I know in my heart these two will get through it all!

There’s also the small fact that God put Chloe in Lucifer’s path. He definitely knows they’re meant to be together. I mean if that’s not a sign, I don’t know what is.

There are many other reasons why our favorite couple is meant for each other. From Lucifer dying to get Chloe the antidote, to Chloe helping Lucifer forgive himself and everything in between.

(And hey, when you’ve got a devil like Lucifer who’s okay with you whacking him anytime, I think he’s a keeper!)
