If there’s one thing that wouldn’t have surprised about 2020, it definitely would have been some sort of zombie invasion. Sure, why not! Luckily, that didn’t happen, but in 2021 on Netflix, the zombies are coming. Dave Bautista stars in Army of the Dead as Scott Ward, the leader of a group of mercenaries who take advantage of a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas. Once the outbreak has ravaged the city, the mercenaries roll the dice and go into the quarantine zone with the intention of pulling off a next-level heist that’s never been attempted before.

Army of the Dead comes from director Zack Snyder, who also directed such movies as Dawn of the Dead, 300, Watchmen, Sucker Punch, Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman Dawn of Justice and Justice League. The film had first been announced in 2008 before sitting in development hell until Netflix saved the day. Although Army of the Dead hasn’t yet been released, the franchise has already been built with an upcoming anime spin-off series Army of the Dead: Lost Angeles and a prequel film, both of which will also stream on Netflix. But first, keep an eye out for the film that will start it all when it premieres this year.
