4. Elite

Set in Las Encinas, a secondary school where children of the wealthy and powerful attend, Elite is a thriller centered on the mystery surrounding a student’s murder. The show’s first season deals heavily with the relationships between three working-class students recently enrolled at the school thanks to scholarships and their privileged classmates testing and deciding where they’ll land on the social ladder. Discussions of religion, sexual expression, and identity are also major themes of the show.

All three seasons of Elite are available to stream. The series has been renewed for a fourth and fifth season.

5. Get Even

Based on the book series Don’t Get Mad by Gretchen McNeil, Get Even follows Kitty Wei, Margot Rivers, Bree Deringer, and Olivia Hayes–the members of Don’t Get Mad (DGM) who expose the behavior of the bullies at their school.

While what they do isn’t harmless, the girls see it as getting back at those who seek to ruin the lives of students just trying to make it through high school like everyone else. But when a previous target is murdered and they’re framed for the kill, the girls have to work to clear their name before everyone finds out who they are.
