Haven’t started binging Virgin River yet? What are you waiting for? If you happen to be one of many avid fans of this romantic drama series, you’re probably waiting to binge the next season. And presumably, the next, and the next, and the next after that, if and when they come to be.

But for those just learning about the Netflix Original, here’s the premise first.

What is Virgin River about?

Netflix describes the plot as:

"Searching for a fresh start, a nurse practitioner moves from LA to a remote northern California town and is surprised by what — and who — she finds."

A review from Rotten Tomatoes calls the show “a charming slice of small town drama” and says that it “proves that drama can be emotional without being emotionally manipulative.” And that sounds about right. Starring Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, and Tim Matheson, the talented cast brings the great story to life. As Decider points out, the series is actually filmed in Vancouver, Canada, not Virgin River, California. Nevertheless, the cinematography is notably easy on the eyes, only adding to its binge-worthiness.

How long will Virgin River go on for?

So far, only the third season of Virgin River has been confirmed. As we previously reported, Netflix officially confirmed the show’s renewal with a tweet back in December 2020. You can check out the full social media announcement here. It also might’ve been a bit of a spoiler!

Even though we’ve only got confirmation for season 3, there are so many books left in the series that it could definitely go on for a while. In Robyn Carr’s book series, there’s a total of a whopping 22 installments!

Not to mention, Virgin River has been doing very well with audiences, having already developed a devoted following. As Deadline reported just yesterday, the series swiped the top spot from Netflix Original The Crown in the Nielsen weekly streaming rankings.

Now reigning supreme on Netflix, the rankings show that the series hit 1.8 billion minutes of viewing between November 30 and December 6. Now that’s binging! With the second season’s debut in November 2020, Virgin River is still rising in the Netflix ranks. And hopefully, they’ve only just begun!
