Disenchantment is a side-splitting adult-oriented animated series from Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons and Futurama.

The comical cartoon follows Princess Bean from Dreamland and her friends Elfo and a demon named Luci. Together they go on plenty of gut-busting drunken misadventures resulting in some seriously funny shenanigans, and the medieval setting provides plenty of opportunities for some flat-out brilliant jokes.

Every episode will have subscribers on the floor laughing, and if anyone needed a good chuckle to start off their New Year, then this show is the right endeavor to experience on New Year’s Day.

5. The Umbrella Academy

If you have already seen Wonder Woman 1984 or need a break from the Marvel Cinematic Universe that Netflix has the perfect superhero solution for those looking for something different in that department for New Year’s Day.

This action-drama series, The Umbrella Academy, is based on a comic book of the same name and has resonated so well with fans that it even managed to appear in the streaming service’s daily top ten a total of 43 times in 2020.

The story follows a group of orphans with extraordinary abilities who reunite when their adopted father dies, and together they must save the world from the impending apocalypse. This time-traveling affair is an absolutely perfect choice to view on New Year’s Day.

The Umbrella Academy season 3 is happening at Netflix, but it’ll be a while until we see the new season.
