Based on the book series of the same name by James S. A. Corey, The Expanse premiered on SyFy in 2015. After the first three seasons, the show was canceled by its home network, after which it was picked up by Amazon Prime Video for its subsequent installments.

Starring Steven Strait, Dominique Tipper, Wes Chatham, and Shohreh Aghdashloo, the series chronicles the lives of various people living on Earth and in outer space, which humanity has colonized to varying degrees of luxury.

The solar system is facing a cold war and the main characters are unknowingly tied together in a conspiracy that could alter the future of mankind. If you think you recognize Steven Strait as Jim Holden, that’s because he played iconic bad boy Warren Peace in the classic Disney movie Sky High.

I’m in the process of watching The Expanse right now and it does a really great job of making the futuristic setting seem realistic.

If you’re wondering whether or not you can watch this show on Netflix, then you’re in the right place. We have the answer for you below!

Is The Expanse streaming on Netflix?

Unfortunately, you can’t stream this one on Netflix. But even though you can’t watch it via the streaming service, there is a ton of similar content available to peruse. If you want to watch a show that takes place primarily in outer space, then I would recommend checking out Away starring Hilary Swank. You can also watch Mars, which features documentary-style interviews and a harrowing tale about humanity’s first Mars mission in 2033.

Currently, you can only stream The Expanse (for free) on Amazon Prime Video.
