7 best Netflix dramas of 2020

Virgin River

Sometimes you need a romance series, and that’s exactly what Virgin River offers. We get some excellent characters that we can fall in love with and root for. The second season, which came out at the end of November, did not disappoint.

In fact, it left us needing more. We have so many questions and so many theories. It took us on a wilder ride than the first season, and wilder than many other TV shows on streaming and broadcast combined.

We don’t know if Virgin River season 3 is happening yet. It’s going to be some time before Netflix makes a decision, but we’re holding out a lot of hope.

The Last Kingdom

Finally, one of the best Netflix dramas came just as lockdowns began. Man, did we need it at the time! The Last Kingdom continued the story of Uhtred, who finally got his chance to fight for Bebbenburg back. It didn’t quite end the way he hoped, and yes, we were all devastated.

This was a season of change. Usually, when a show starts to lose some of its main characters, it struggles. There was a fear that the loss of King Alfred and Athelwold after three seasons would lead to the Wessex storyline falling a little flat. However, the various characters that came in to stand in Uhtred’s way held their own.

There were so many highs to the season. The best thing is knowing we’ll get a fifth season to continue this story. After four strong seasons, we know The Last Kingdom season 5 will be one of the best Netflix dramas of whichever year it’s released.
