3. Never Have I Ever

Imagine all the stereotypes you can, every basic modern teen romance cliche you can think of, and put them together in a show. Voilà! You just created the plot of Never Have I Ever. Starring Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Devi Vishwakumar, a 15-year-old who wants nothing but to change her status in school from boring to super-popular teen who has a couple of boyfriends and cool friends.

From the beginning until the end, it tries so hard to be funny and “portray” what Indians are like but just fails miserably. However, if you like reading fan fiction on Wattpad and Riverdale happens to be one of your favorite shows ever, you can give this a go.

4. Away

While Netflix does cancel good shows sometimes, they made an exception with this one in 2020. Starring Hilary Swank, Josh Charles, Vivian Wu, Mark Ivanir, Ato Essandoh, Ray Panthaki, and Talitha Bateman, prepare to go on the first-ever expedition to Mars. You are introduced to “Mars Joint Initiative,” i.e. the very diverse team on the mission. Marking Hilary’s comeback, you’d think Away will satisfy the sci-fi enthusiast within you, but sadly, it does a lot wrong than right. Few episodes in, you realize that it is, in fact, not centered on science at all but is like a soap about interpersonal relationships. More than exploring the life on Mars, for some reason, Away focuses more on building human relationships and staying in touch with people you love.
