Best Christmas movies on Netflix for teens
Happy holidays, Netflix lifers! We’re breezing in before Thanksgiving with a Christmas and holiday rec list made especially for our teens (though our fellow grown folk are welcome to enjoy, too).
Whether you’re settling in with turkey, ham, chicken, or some vegetarian/vegan alternative this week, consider turning one of our picks on as you work to fight off your food coma. We’ve got selections that will make you laugh, smile, sing, and maybe even dance if you’re feeling up to it.
From New York City to small town USA, from villages bursting with magic to Santa’s workshop. These Christmas and holiday films will make your spirit bright and help you ring in the new year as we come to the tail end of 2020.
To kick off our list, we’re starting with the ever delightful Dash & Lily. Yes, we’re aware it’s cheating. This is supposed to be a movie list after all BUT we can’t not put this teen holiday series on our list. For starters, holiday series are rare let alone ones focused on teenagers. Also, it’s just that good, let us make the case for you.
1. Dash & Lily
Picture this, it’s Christmas in New York. The carolers are out singing on-key but struggling with the lyrics. The streets are crammed with people dashing to and fro trying to get their last-minute shopping done. At the center of it all is a grump of a boy and a holiday spirited girl unaware their winter break is about to get a spark of cheer that could burst into love.
Based on the book Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares, Netflix’s television adaptation, Dash & Lily, is a tinsel covered romcom that spans the lead up to Christmas, dips into a Hanukkah night, and rings in the new year with its lead couple Dash and Lily running around the city daring each other to grow, get out of their comfort zones, and fall in love.
Sometimes all it takes is a mysterious red notebook in The Strand bookstore to bring two people together during the merriest season of the year.
