When Riverdale signed off the air in early May with its season 4 finale, there were many storylines left unanswered and not in the traditional sense. Sure end of season cliffhangers are a mainstay in television; however, the questions left unanswered by the Riverdale season 4 finale weren’t planned to be cliffhanger type questions.

Like many shows, Riverdale was forced to end its season prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic and therefore was unable to bring a conclusion to the storylines meant to be resolved by the season’s end. Chief among them being the mystery of the Riverdale voyeur. Fortunately, all of these unanswered questions and more will be answered when Riverdale season 5 premieres in January 2021.

While Riverdale season 5 details are scarce, but several clues have been dropped giving fans a clear idea of what’s to come when The CW’s hit series returns.

When it comes to Riverdale season 5, The CW is keeping its lips sealed tight in order not to reveal its hand too soon; however, there have been many clues dropped leading up to the season’s premiere which help provide us with an idea of what the upcoming season will hold.

As Riverdale season 5 begins, the show will look to wrap up the high school storylines of the show’s core cast with Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Cheryl, and the gang preparing to bid farewell to their high school years.

With their time as high schoolers coming to an end, fans can expect the first episodes of season 5 being used to wrap up key storylines including senior prom and graduation. It also seems safe to assume that the season’s first episodes will also bring resolution to the Riverdale voyeur storyline in a swift manner.

After the high school storylines are tied up, the show is set to jump ahead by several years with a time jump that will allow the show to skip past the characters’ college years. It’s here that things should get interesting as the writers will be able to age the characters up and explore a fresh new set of storylines.

It’s not yet clear where we’ll find Archie and the gang following the time jump; however, it seems certain we can expect to see changes and new developments to the relationships both personally and professionally. Perhaps that’s what will be most interesting about the upcoming season: getting the chance to see how the characters have grown and evolved.

Will Bughead, Varchie, and Choni still be going strong? What friendships have grown stronger and which have become strained? Who has found success after high school and which members of the team might still be attempting to sort out what they want to do with their lives? All these questions and more are sure to be addressed when Riverdale season 5 premieres on Jan. 20, 2021!
