What’s next for Princess Diana in The Crown season 5?

Elizabeth Debicki is cast to play Diana in seasons 5 and 6, so it safe to say the series could end soon after Diana’s death in 1997. Vogue has reported that season 5 would take us into the early Noughties, but since Debicki is cast for season 6, that doesn’t fit that timeline.

Creator Peter Morgan has stated that the ending of the series will not take us to the present day.

Season 5 will bring us through the events of Diana and Charles’s breakdown of their marriage and, ultimately, their divorce in 1996, which will also bring Diana’s horrific death in a car crash that took place in 1997.

There are many events these seasons can explore, including Diana’s charity work, which included many wonderful causes. She was an advocate for animals rights and worked with organizations to help the homeless, youth, drug addicts and the elderly. She was also an advocate for bringing awareness to and raising money for many illnesses, including AIDS and mental health issues.

We won’t see season five until sometime in 2022, but in addition to Debicki, Jonathan Price will join the cast as Prince Philip, Imelda Staunton will take the crown as she portrays the Queen, and Leslie Manville will play Princess Margaret.
