Stranger Things ’80s dreamcast

Stranger Things has started filming for season four and that has us wondering if Stranger Things was filmed in the ’80s, which actors would have starred in the series that wouldn’t have been on Netflix (for obvious reasons)?

It’s ’80s Day for Stranger Things Theme Week, and we are celebrating all the great ’80s references, stars and more.

We already have some iconic actors from the ’80s starring in the series like Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice and Heathers), Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket), Sean Austin (The Goonies), Paul Reiser (Aliens and Mad About You) and Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride).

Eleven – Ally Sheedy

Ally Sheedy had a transformation moment when she played Allison in The Breakfast Club. This mirrors the experience El went through when she went from buzzed head to blonde wig.

Mike – Anthony Michael Hall

Antony Michael Hall often times played the nerd. He was in Gary in Weird Science and The Geek, aka Farmer Ted, in Sixteen Candles. Mike is similar in that he is pretty nerdy but also got the girl. When Hall played Gary, he also got the girl.

Dustin – Jon Cryer

This one is very obvious since Dustin pulled a Ducky Dale at the Snow Ball. Jon Cryer played Ducky in Pretty in Pink and Dustin’s look at the Snow Ball was spot on as a throwback to the prom in Pretty in Pink.

Lucas – Ke Huy Quan

Quan played great characters in the ’80s, most notably Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Data in Goonies. Data and Lucas are both funny, smart and are often agitated by the actions of their friends.

Jonathan – Emilio Estevez

Emilio Estevez played the quiet Kirby Keger in St. Elmo’s Fire, and in The Breakfast Club, he got the girl. He would do a great job playing the mild-mannered Jonathan.

Nancy – Molly Ringwald

Molly Ringwald was quite the ’80s darling when it came to movies of that era.  She was smart and stylish, as is Nancy.

Will – Sean Astin

Since Sean Astin was in the series, it would only be right for him to play a part. He would channel his inner Mikey from The Goonies, enabling him to portray Will as a quiet guy with a huge heart.

Steve – Michael J. Fox

Michael J. Fox’s character Marty McFly is a dead ringer for Steve Harrington. The hair, the jeans, the tennis shoes, it just makes sense.

Billy – Rob Lowe

Not only did Rob Lowe look very much like Billy in the ’80s, but he also played Billy in St. Elmo’s Fire.

Max – Demi Moore

Demi Moore played the wild child Jules in St. Elmos Fire and even had red hair. She’d be perfect for playing Max.

Barb – Martha Plimpton

Again, another actress who looked a lot like a Stranger Things character. Martha Plimpton played Stef in Goonies and had the same look as Barb.

Robin – Lisa Bonet

Lisa Bonet is well known for her portrayal of Denise Huxtable on The Cosby Show. Her character was the rebel of the Huxtable kids, and she was a free spirit. This makes her perfect to portray Robin as she also has a rebellious spirit. Robin isn’t afraid to march to the beat of her own drum.

Hopper – Harrison Ford

Hopper obviously took his fashion advice from Indiana Jones, who Harrison Ford played.
