Is Stranger Things season 4 canceled?

Stranger Things season 4 is taking a little longer than fans want, which has caused some speculation that Stranger Things season 4 has been canceled.

Netflix has canceled a few shows because of the COVID-19 pandemic, including GLOW, The Society, I Am Not Okay With This, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and Teenage Bounty Hunters. Stranger Things fans are obviously hoping Netflix won’t do the same to their favorite show.

So, did Netflix cancel Stranger Things season 4?

Stranger Things fans don’t have anything to worry about. Netflix is not going to cancel Stranger Things ever. This show is too popular and makes too much money for Netflix. If anything, Stranger Things will likely run a few years too long or have multiple spinoffs at Netflix because it’s so successful.

Stranger Things season 4 is happening at Netflix, and it’s already in the works.

The cast and crew started filming Stranger Things season 4 in early 2020. Production was postponed in March 2020 because of the pandemic. Now, slowly but surely, the cast and crew are returning to Atlanta to finish filming Stranger Things season 4. Production officially resumed at the end of September 2020.

We still don’t know when, exactly, to expect the new season of Stranger Things. Most likely, it will be released in the fall of 2021, about a year from when production restarted. It’d be tough to release the new season any earlier than that, although it was originally slated for an early 2021 release date on Netflix.

It will be interesting to see what happens with other Netflix shows that are currently delayed or have pushed back new seasons until 2021. Will more shows get canceled? Obviously, we hope that won’t be the case. What happens if the shows are delayed a year or more because of the pandemic? We’ll have to wait and see.
