Halloween movies for kids on Netflix

Chills and thrills are being featured across all streaming services, but Netflix has the largest variety of content, including Halloween movies with light scares that are safe enough to watch with kids at home of all ages.

What I love so much about Halloween, is that anyone can participate and be part of the fun! Whether you enjoy major thrills and plan ahead a binge of slasher movies or prefer sticking with horror that is lightened up with laughs, Netflix has the right spooks for you!

Also, Halloween isn’t only celebrated on Oct. 31, the spookiness of the holiday is around as soon as the calendar hits Oct. 1. Why not plan to watch a movie every few days? Netflix provides, the rest is all up to you!

Don’t leave the little kiddos at home out of the fun! Netflix has plenty of Halloween movies that have the perfect amount of spooks to enjoy with everyone at home.

Halloween movies on Netflix for the whole family

1. The Addams Family

The Addams Family movie is a staple each Halloween season. Fans of the movies watch it at least once each season! The movie follows an imposter pretending to be a family member conspiring to steal the Addams home and fortune, but he is in for more than he bargained for. At the center of The Addams Family is a lesson of love, trust, and the importance of family.

2. Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween

This movie is a sequel to the first one, Goosebumps, which you’ll have to go to Prime Video to watch. Once you do (or perhaps you’ve already seen it), watch Goosebumps 2 on Netflix! The streaming titan also has the Goosebumps TV series available, but here we are referring to the 2018 movie.

Goosebumps 2 follows similar adventures as the first. The story follows a group of friends who spend their Halloween night stopping the terrors brought to life by a magical book. If you are familiar with the original books, see how many you can find in the movie!

3. Scooby-Doo: Zombie Island

The latest Scooby-Doo movie, SCOOB!, was a fail in my book. It lacks the laughs and silliness that make the characters so much fun and enjoyable to watch. This is why Scooby-Doo: Zombie Island is a great movie to not only watch during the Halloween season introduce to the young kids in the family so that they can see and meet the real Scooby-Doo characters.

4. The Witches

A word of caution: Truth be told, this 1990 movie did give me nightmares as a kid! Horror was different back in the day! You know your kid best, so if you don’t think they can handle some creepy looking witches, I would skip this one.

However, if the children in your home are brave or not too young, add The Witches to your Halloween movies binge! The Witches follows a young boy named Luke who accidentally ends up discovering that a group of witches is planning to turn all children into mice and it’s up to him to stop them.

5. The Little Vampire

This fun little movie is one of my personal Halloween favorites to watch with the family. It follows a young vampire named Rudolph who is hiding from humans as his family is threatened by vampire hunters. When he meets Tony, a mortal boy, they work together to save Rudolph’s family and stop the hunters. It’s a fun story of acceptance and trust, with plenty of teachable moments and lessons.

Which Halloween movies on Netflix do you plan on watching with the family this Halloween season? Did we miss a great one that’s available on the streaming titan?
