The Crown season 4: Emma Corrin stuns in re-creation of Princess Diana’s wedding dress

The newest first look photo from The Crown season 4 offers our first glimpse of Emma Corrin donning Princess Diana’s iconic wedding dress. 

As The Crown continues to move forward through the years of Queen Elizabeth II’s life, the time has finally come for the show to introduce one of the most beloved royals of all-time: Diana, Princess of Wales.

The Crown season 4 aims to dive into the final years of the 1970s before pushing forward into the 1980s, putting a focus on the early days of Prince Charles’ relationship with Diana. Although the show’s focus has always been on the Queen, it’s hard to imagine The Crown might not take a temporary detour in season 4 with a heavier focus on the People’s Princess.

While it’s unclear which iconic moments might make it into The Crown season 4, there is at least one unforgettable event Netflix will focus in on during the upcoming season: the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

On July 29, 1981, more than 750 million individuals across the globe tuned in to watch Diana walk down the aisle of St Paul’s Cathedral. The event remains one of the most iconic moments in royal history, one which still will forever be engraved in the memories and hearts of a generation.

Considering how impactful of an event Charles and Diana’s wedding was in the history of the monarchy, it’s no surprise that the event would make its way into season 4 of The Crown. Also not surprising is the incredible attention to detail that has gone into recreating one of the most iconic wedding dresses of all-time, an undertaking costume designer Amy Roberts has done with sheer perfection!

If there was any question of The Crown being an early favorite heading into the 2021 Emmy season, it seems safe to say we’d be shocked if Roberts did not walk away with a second Emmy for her work on the show! She’s managed to recapture Diana’s elegant gown perfectly which has us ever more excited to see the show tackle more of Diana’s iconic fashion moments over the course of the upcoming seasons.
