Black Widow starring Stranger Things star David Harbour has been delayed again.

Marvel postponed the release of Black Widow until May 7, 2021. The film was scheduled to be released on Nov. 6, 2020.

Originally, Black Widow was supposed to be released on May 1, 2020. Because of the situation with the coronavirus pandemic, Disney/Marvel moved the release date to November obviously hoping that the pandemic would largely be under control by then.

Now, the movie is moving back to its original month but a year later.

The film focuses on Natasha Romanoff, played by Scarlett Johansson, who returns to Russia to confront events that happened in her past. Black Widow is set following the events of Captain America: Civil War.

In the movie, Harbour plays the Red Guardian, which is basically the Russian version of Captain America. There’s more to the character than that, but that’s the basics of it. Harbour’s character has aged considerably since his prime and is more like Natasha’s father in the movie.

Is Black Widow going to be on Disney Plus?

Eventually! When Disney and Marvel delayed the premiere of the movie the first time, fans wanted Disney to just add the movie to Disney Plus to stream or even pay to stream it as they did with Mulan. 

Harbour was even hoping the movie would be released on Disney Plus just so fans could see it, according to a report from The Independent.

That’s never going to happen with Black Widow, though, even if it’s what the fans all want to happen.

Disney and Marvel are going to gross at least $1 billion in the box office if they release it after the pandemic has ended or the coronavirus situation is under control. That’s more than they’d make with an exclusively digital release.

So, yes, Black Widow will be released on Disney Plus, but it will be six months after the movie premieres in theaters.

Harbour and the rest of the Stranger Things cast and crew are about to start filming season 4 again. Production is slated to start on Sept. 28.
