All eight episodes of Ratched is available on Netflix tonight

It may not quite be the scariest month of the year yet, but 2020 is like a nightmare anyway. It only seems fitting that we get another Ryan Murphy horror series already. Ratched is coming to Netflix tonight.

All eight episodes will drop at once. Ratched starring Sarah Paulson will be on Netflix from 3:01 a.m. ET. That means those on the west coast get the season at 12:01 a.m.

This is certainly a series many people have anticipated, and not just because it’s from the creator of American Horror Story. It’s all about an extremely scary fictional nurse.

A look inside the dangerous character

If the name rings a bell, it’s probably because you read One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey. Or maybe you watched the 1975 movie based on the book.

The 1962 novel is a terrifying look at psychiatric hospitals of the past. It studies the institutional processes, along with critiquing the behaviors and minds of humans. Nurse Mildred Ratched was one of the worst in the place, but what got her started?

Ratched season 1 will take us inside the origin story of Mildred. Seeking employment in Northern California, she takes work at the leading psychiatric hospital and immediately immerses herself in the unsettling and dangerous experiments on the human mind.

Mildred knows what a nurse should look like. She’s happy to play that role, but it is just a role. She is constantly planning to infiltrate the mental health care system, and it may not be a good thing.

One thing the series is going to remind us is that many monsters are made, not born.

There are some excellent actors connected to the series outside of Paulson. Finn Wittrock will play Edmund Tolleson, Cynthia Nixon is Gwendolyn Briggs, and Sharon Stone is Lenore Osgood.

We also can’t forget the recurring stars, including Sophie Okonedo, Stan Van Winkle, and Brandon Flynn.
